Together with the Main Choir and the Cristin Claas Trio in the Passionskirche, Kreuzberg | 17:00 p.m.
A choir is a choir is a choir... Who we are and what we do
Young people ages fourteen and older who sing or would like to sing are welcome to join us! We're a "youth choir", but not to fear – ages eighteen and older (up to age 27 or so) are also welcome. Whether still in school, university, or newly employed... everyone is welcome to sing with us!
Our choir director is the wonderful Olga Kisseleva. She rehearses the music with us, works on breathing technique with us, and accompanies us on choir retreats.
Our repertoire is extensive. We’ve sung modern pop and rock (e.g. Abba, U2, Grease), film music (The Chorus, Sister Act) and, of course, classic and traditional/spirituals, ranging across many periods and countries. Sometimes it’s a cappella, sometimes with piano (and sometimes even orchestra).
We perform our own concerts, where we also sing with the children’s choir. Additionally, we perform with the main choir in the large concert halls such as the Philharmonie and the Konzerthaus at Gendarmenmarkt. We sing, for example, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, To Hope! by Dave Brubeck, and Brahm’s A German Requiem. In 2018 some of us even sang with the main choir onstage at the Theatre of the West in the Disney musical The Hunchback of Notre Dame – a real highlight!
Another highlight for us is, of course, our choir retreats, which usually take place once a year.
